FHE?

I am the FHE Mom for my group which means I have to come up with an activity and a lesson each week. I'm sure the group will help me as will the "Dad", but none of us are that creative. I need some good ideas for lessons and activities that last about 1 hour. Post your FHE ideas in the comments. I need all the help I can get. Thanks!

- video game night (was a hit)
- nothing to do with dating (that's not for fhe!)
- h.o.r.s.e. or p.i.g. if it's too cold to play outside in UT.
- photo contest (choose a theme, 5 min time limit)
- lessons should be about 10 min and then a 10-20 min activity with a cookie or ice cream cone to end it all... if it's not short, kids with homework won't come.

If you go to LDS Living - they have FHE lessons/treats. They always have a theme (this week is Choice & Accountability) and you could make up an activity that went with the lesson. You could be in charge of the lesson/treat and make the FHE 'dad' come up with the activity.

SHORT & SWEET Like Peter mentioned.

SO true Peter. Don't let it drag on. Have the main part over in 45 minutes. Those who want to stay can and the rest can get back to homework, etc.
Pumpkin carving contest (have each apartment bring 1-2 pumpkins). Game night. I'll think of more later.

One way to always get people involved is delegate assignments. That means clear expectations and follow through on your part. If you assign an apartment to bring dessert, the thought or even the activity (if you give them the ideas), then that means at least one person from that apartment will come - most likely more than 1.

We'll try to come up with a few ideas!

One of our favorite family night games is the thimble game. The person who is it chooses a subject (colors in a 24 crayon box, Disney animated films, books in the Book of Mormon) and then chooses one but tells no one. You then have everyone take a turn guessing and then throw a thimble full of water (the lid from a pill bottle works well also) in their face. They are then it. After explaining this game it doesn't sound very fun but I promise that it is!
