Raise the Roof!

California...way to be. I'm quite disappointed that Prop 4 didn't pass, but Prop 8 looks pretty promising with 95% of precincts reporting. I don't want to go into how upset I am that that I heard many members didn't vote Yes. Bottom line: Proclamation to the Family!
So I just want to raise the roof for all of you in California who stuck it out and did your duty. I did what I could from here, but I did not have to deal with it like you did. A special shout-out to Stephanie who pretty much dedicated all her "free time" to it.

Sad day for McCain. He was very gracious about the loss though and quieted all his supporters down when they were booing the fact that he was congratulating Obama so early. Not sure how I feel about Obama yet. It is pretty amazing that we have a black president after our nation's history. We've come a long way. He gave a decent speech too...not sure it was necessary to talk about MLK. I will definitely support him. I'll get back to you soon.
***Edit: So I was just looking up Prop 8 and I read this quote in one article:
"Barack Obama's candidacy made this win by the Prop 8 folks possible. Black voters went for Prop 8 by a margin of 9 to 1. Hispanics split, and whites voted against it. Without such a huge black turnout, it probably wouldn't have passed."
Here is another one I read:
"Meanwhile, The Advocate, a gay magazine, offers another reason why Obama's election may have been bad news for Prop. 8: "No on 8 volunteers fear that with the election all but won for Barack Obama, California Democrats who would have otherwise waited in line after polls closed might be inclined to call it a night -- bad news for Prop. 8.""
Thank you, Obama.***

In other news, Kyle will be coming to Utah this weekend! I am so excited to see him. I don't know how he will feel about the snow...p.s. it snowed last night. Boo.

It is pretty amazing how it all turned out. My desire is that we can unite and make changes that will benefit the country as a whole. Let's pray that things will get better and not worse.
Amen to the shout out for Stephanie...how does she always get asked to do these major tasks?

I, too, say way to go Steph! I would have been SO overwhelmed by the negativity. It would have been very disheartening, but now, sweet is the joy!

I think Obama has a great ability to unite the people, so I am looking forward to that step. It is an awesome thing to have our first African American president! Way to go, America.

I, too, found McCain's speech good. I thought that he was more sincere than any other debate/speech I have heard yet. I would have enjoyed that sincerity sooner!
